EMPLOYMENT

Employment is a problem which the people are always complaining about. In the UAE the population is growing and the number of the expat people is increasing too.

Although jobs in the UAE are varied, people are still complaining, and this is due to many reasons. The level of education of the locals has changed and the number of the growing private companies has increased. This means that the employment is difficult for both locals and non locals. However it is easier for the non locals because they do not mind working with private companies and the reason is they do not care about the pension benefits, they only care about the end of service. Sometimes they accept low salaries which makes them the most wanted employees for the private companies. Government companies and authorities normally look for the benefits of locals as they are forced to. The government also is giving a big effort to increase the number of working Emiratis in the private sector and the big positions in the public sector.

The government is forcing the private companies to employ the Emiratis with at
least 10% of the employees. However they are disturbing the Emiratis and indirectly they are forcing theEmiratis to resign and they keep on saying “the Emiratis do not want to work, they only want to sit behind the desk and keep on talking in the phone”. This statement about the Emiratis is wrong, they are ready to work everywhere and any type of job. The rising cost of expatriate workers is placing a growing burden on employers in Dubai, according to a report by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, entitled Managing the UAE's HR Environment. The main problem with the locals is most of them like to get high salaries as the public sector offers, however the private cannot. The report shows that average salaries for expatriates rose by over 6% last year. Daily allowances rose by over 20%, and multinationals now pay an average rate of US$ 475 a day for executive expatriates on short-term assignments in Dubai.

The government is looking for solutions to help the Emiratis to find jobs in both private and public sectors. One of the solutions is to force the Emiratis to accept low salaries which the private sector offers them if the Emiratis are not highly educated. This step is done by ending the serves of the employee if he is not highly educated. Another solution is the service provided from the government to the private companies which employed Emiratis who are better than the others. For example these companies can have as many employees as they need while the others are restricted. However the government is making expiations for the employment moreover they made some authorities just for employing the Emiratis like Tawdheef is. Tawdheef, The Recruitment Show Abu Dhabi, is the region most important and influential recruitment event open to the general public. ADNOC also is having a section which is taking care of the Emiratis. This section's task is to employ the Emiratis and distribute them to the ADNOC group of companies. By this the government is making sure that the Emiratis percentage is getting increased among the private and public sectors and everyone will get more than a chance to get a job.
